The Los Gatos/Monte Sereno Police Department

Our department, comprised of 64 sworn and civilian personnel and over 150 community volunteers, is committed to providing the highest quality service with a small town feel to our residents, businesses and visitors. We are proud of the relationship that we enjoy with our community and are constantly striving to build upon that relationship through partnerships, collaboration and our individual contacts.

Los Gatos and Monte Sereno enjoy a high quality of life with low crime rates. The members of the police department work hard to provide a full range of services to residents, services often beyond what other communities are able to provide. We are working in three major areas to improve the department and our ability to serve the community.

Building a highly competent and professional police department providing traditional law enforcement services. This means we hire, train and promote good people, give them the right equipment and training/experience to be able to keep the community safe and respond to any emergency. Our work over the past years demonstrates that we have been successful. We are continually working to improve our abilities.

Building community relationships. We enjoy an excellent relationship with the community but realize that this is a never ending process. We are working purposefully to better connect with businesses, neighborhood organizations, community groups and individuals. When you have contact with a member of the department, we see this as an opportunity to establish or build upon that relationship.

Engaging in community problem solving. We know that we must be engaged with the community to understand the issues of our community fully and to successfully respond to them. Our work to address the problem of thefts from cars was a partnership between the department, the media and local businesses and their customers. We have been a leader and strong partner working to address the challenges of youth and high risk behavior. Our Youth Party Guidelines (available for viewing on this site, above) is the latest tangible example of how we are working collaboratively with the community to reduce problems associated with youth parties involving alcohol. Our ultimate goal is to know everyone in the community. This is a challenging goal, but one that is worthy of pursuit. We believe that through all of our individual contacts and connections, we can know every resident of Los Gatos and Monte Sereno. I invite your thoughts on how you can help us.
