Council Member Steve Rice

Biography

Steve was elected to the Town Council in November, 2008.  He is honored to follow in the footsteps of his grandfather, John Lincoln, who served on the Town Council and as Mayor in the 1960’s.  Steve’s goal is to leave a better Los Gatos for his grandchildren, as his grandfather did for him. 

Steve is a life-long resident of Los Gatos.  He attended Louise Van Meter Elementary, Fisher Junior High School and Los Gatos High School (Class of 1977), before moving on to San Jose State University, where he majored in Business Administration, with a concentration in Finance.  Steve built his home on family-owned property in 1989, experiencing the Town’s planning process “first hand.” Steve is married to Linda Rice, and they have two sons.  Stephen is in college at the University of Denver and Brian attends high school at Bellarmine College Preparatory. 

A Financial Planner by profession, Steve is a Certified Financial Planner®, a Chartered Life Underwriter®, a Chartered Financial Consultant® and a Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy®.  He is a Senior Partner with Pacific Advisors, a financial advisory firm with offices throughout California.

Steve’s community involvement stretches back almost 30 years.

· Member of the original “Measure A” Parcel Tax committee for Los Gatos Elementary Schools

· Past President / Current member of the Rotary Club of Los Gatos

· Past President of the Los Gatos Museum Association

· Past Scout Leader and Cub Scout Pack Treasurer

· Past Los Gatos Little League Coach

· Past Los Gatos United Soccer League Coach

In addition to serving his community, Steve has served his industry as well.  He is a past president of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (both Silicon Valley and State of California associations), a past president of the Society of Financial Service Professionals – San Jose Chapter; and a past president of the Santa Clara County Estate Planning Council.
