Election & Voter Information
The next General Election is November 6, 2018.
The Municipal Elections are held in November of even numbered years. The elective officers of the Town consist of a Town Council made up of five Council Members who are elected in a non-partisan election. Elected officers serve "at large," representing the entire community, rather than a particular district. The Council Members are elected to four-year overlapping terms with no term limits. The Council selects the Mayor and Vice Mayor annually in November.
Candidates must be registered to vote in the Town of Los Gatos at the time nomination papers are issued by the Office of the Town Clerk Administrator. To be a registered voter in the Town, one must reside in the incorporated area of the Town of Los Gatos and be a U.S. citizen 18 years of age or older. To ensure this qualification is met, the Office of the Town Clerk Administrator will verify voter registration status with the County of Santa Clara Elections Office before issuing nomination papers.
The nomination period opens July 16, 2018 and closes August 10, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. for this election year and appropriate papers to file and run for office may be obtained from the Town Clerk Administrator. Due to the magnitude of forms, schedules and timelines during an election period, potential candidates for office are encouraged to schedule an appointment with the Town Clerk Administrator when pulling nomination papers.
For more information on filing, please contact the Town Clerk Administrator at (408) 354-6834 or Clerk@LosGatosCA.gov and by referring to the Town of Los Gatos Candidate's Guide.
